Choolha Chowka — meal subscriptions and payment recovery

Owned backend and DevOps for meal plans, OTP access, subscription changes, and signed Razorpay webhook recovery.

Choolha Chowka is a meal-subscription platform covering account access, carts, plan durations, leave handling, payments, and subscription changes. I owned the backend and DevOps work, collaborating with Abhimanyu Singh on the frontend. The backend uses Django REST Framework, PostgreSQL, Redis, Celery, Razorpay, and Docker. Browser confirmation can fail after a payment succeeds. I implemented HMAC-verified Razorpay webhooks to reconcile payment state and activate subscriptions independently of that browser response. The handling includes repeat-payment checks and isolates notification failures so an email error does not undo the subscription flow.
  • Multi-role OTP authentication and Redis OTP caching.
  • Multi-plan carts, configurable durations, leave handling, and subscription-day changes.
  • Celery jobs for expiry and email processing, including retry behavior.
  • Docker deployment support for the backend and supporting services.
